Two Years in the Making
In February 2025, the Create Foundation hosted a community meeting of ~125 people in Fulton. It was a roundtable discussion on projects to improve the county. An Agricultual Center was in the top 3 vote selections. A Steering Committee was formed to investigate and gather information.
Research the Feasibility
In an effort to gain as much inside knowledge as possible, this steering committee visited other AgriCenter venue operations personnel, met with Mississippi State Extension Service economic development professionals, interviewed various event producers, and consulted with grant writing consultants. All this was to make sure we are well informed.
A Nine-Member Board, Fully Seated
The steering committee proceeded to incorporate as Itawamba Agricultural Heritage Center. Members were seated, bylaws adopted and committees formed around site development, fundraising and grants, and programming.
501(c)3 Status Established
The Center is a fully recognized nonprofit organization, clearing the way to apply for grants and charitable support.
